It is the earliest loss at the French Open for a reigning champion since 2022. That year, 2-seeded Barbora Krejčíková was upset in the first round by Diane Parry. For Gauff, she joins a long list of top-seeded competitors to lose in the first three rounds of this year’s Roland Garros.
